Arlo Guthrie - Hobo's Lullaby

'Hobo's Lullaby' does have some obvious comparisons to 'Alice's Restaurant', yet presents a more serious, disiplined side to great American folk singer. As he masterfully covers Bob Dylan ('When the Ship Comes In'), Hoyt Axton ('Somebody Turned on the Light'), and ('Lightning Bar Blues'), Arlo displays his amazingly and often overlooked vocal talents. 'City of New Orleans' is one of the best pieces in his entire catalog and demonstrates Arlo's unique ability to reach that place inside you that makes you feel good. His treatment of his father's '1913 Massacre' is also tastefully done and quite a moving listening experience. Another solid collection of tunes from one of the most underrated singer/songwriters of his time, 'Hobo's Lullaby' is a classic country-folk production.
